A Christmas Gala Performance – Wollongong Town Hall, Sat 9 Dec, 2pm

spectacular Christmas Gala performance Saturday 9 December at Wollongong Town Hall brought to you by the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music, with Full Choir, Children’s Choir, Orchestra, Jazz Orchestra, Organ and special guest artists featuring ‘Sydney’s premiere vocalist’ Dan Barnett with vocalist Trish Delaney-Brown and soprano Kirsten Jones.

The roof of the Town Hall will be raised in this seasonal, family-friendly Christmas Gala performance of familiar Christmas favourites and lush arrangements of seasonal music.

Bring the whole family, put on your finest Christmas attire, and join our ‘black-tie and cocktail dress’ performers for a joyful afternoon celebrating the Christmas season.

Christmas Carols – Wollongong

Join in for the annual classic ‘Carols in the Cathedral at St Michael’s Anglican Cathedral, in Wollongong on Christmas Eve (24 December).

Listen and enjoy classic carols sung by our local choir (and ensemble of instruments) all inside their heritage-listed cathedral (established over 160 years ago!).

Carols on the Lawn: You’re invited to the annual favourite Christmas ‘Carols on the Lawn‘ at St Michael’s Anglican Cathedral, Wollongong on Sunday 17 December. Come from 6pm for food trucks and kids’ activities and enjoy a picnic dinner on the lawn; carols will commence at 7pm. Find them just behind the Wollongong police station at 74 Church St Wollongong (on the corner of Church & Market Streets). Grab a picnic rug or bring some chairs, and some cash for dinner (or byo picnic!). There will also be a complimentary supper afterwards.

Christmas Carols in Bulli

Christmas Carols – Bulli

Bulli Anglican Church is all set to host another amazing Christmas Carols and Markets afternoon on the 3rd of December. Located at 66 Park Road, Bulli, bring your picnic rug or folding chair and browse the markets filled with homemade Christmas gifts, pottery, plants, cakes and goodies. Enjoy dinner with food trucks on-site, including great pizza, Mexican food, BBQ and more. There will also be face painting, a jumping castle, and a photo booth for your Christmas photo. Bulli Anglican Church is also collecting food and toys for Toys ‘n’ Tucker, so bring a toy or food item to donate to those in need this year. Waniora Public School is hosting its Christmas Carols on Thursday, the 7th of December, from 6-7:30 pm on the Waniora Public School back oval at 17 Ursula Road in Bulli. They have Christmas Carol performances on stage, Santa on a fire truck, and a BBQ. Bring your own picnic and rug (no alcohol).

Christmas Carols in Woonona

Christmas Carols – Woonona

Woonona Baptist Church, located at 477 Princes Highway, is hosting its Carols on the Grass on the 3rd of December from 5:30 pm, with food and family fun, including jumping castles and fairy floss. From 6:30 pm, the Christmas Carols begin. Bring your chair or blanket and relax on the grass for some Christmas fun. On Christmas Eve, there will be a carols and readings service at 7 pm inside the church, and on Christmas Day, there will be a church service inside the church at 9 am.

Christmas Carols – Bellambi

Bellambi Bowling Club (located at 182-188 Rothery Road, Bellambi) is hosting Carols On The Green on Friday, the 8th of December, from 5-7 pm. Local schools are performing musical acts, and a sausage sizzle will be for dinner. Santa will be arriving by fire truck. Book a table or bring your blanket or bean bag (no chairs). Please note that outside food and drinks are not permitted for entry.

Shellharbour City Council are running a huge Carol’s by Candlelight event on the 8th of December from 6-9 pm. They are held at Centenary Fields (Croome Road Sporting Complex). This is set to be a gorgeous event, with music, circus performers, food vendors (including food for dinner, dessert and a coffee cart) and an atmosphere full of Christmas cheer. They even have a House of Letters, where your children (or adults) can post a letter to Santa.

Figtree Anglican Church is gearing up for another fantastic carols evening this year. It is held on Saturday, the 9th of December, from 5:30 to 9:30 pm at Figtree High School. Entry to the event is free. There are many things to enjoy here; it is a yearly crowd-pleaser. There will be carols, fireworks, face painting, low-cost rides, a BBQ and food trucks. On Christmas Day, services will be held inside the church at 8 am and 9:30 am.

The combined churches of Helensburgh are running Combined Churches Carols in the Burgh on the 9th of December, behind the Tradie’s Club in Helensburgh (Rex Jackson Park, corner of Park Ave and Blackwell Street). Bring your picnic rug or chair and enjoy entertainment from 6 pm, with carols starting at 7:30 pm and then a fireworks display from 9 pm. Food stalls are available on site.

Christmas Carols – Fairy Meadow

Fairy Meadow Anglican Church (corner of Jardine Street and Princes Hwy, Fairy Meadow) is having a community Christmas Carols event on the 10th of December from 4:30 to 8 pm. Carols start at 6 pm, and there will be various activities, including cookie decorating, a petting zoo, face painting, a jumping castle, and burgers by His Boy Elroy. After the carols finish, there is an option to stay for a viewing of ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ at their outdoor cinema, starting at 8 pm. Donate a food item or toy to the charity Toys ‘n’ Tucker while you are there to help those in need (make sure they aren’t perishables).

Austinmer and Thirroul Anglican Churches are hosting Carols by the Sea on Sunday, the 10th of December, from 7-8:30 pm. Bring your picnic dinner or drinks and a picnic rug or chair to enjoy some traditional and modern Christmas Carols by the beach. Austinmer Anglican Church will hold church services on Christmas Eve at 5 pm and 11 pm. St David’s Thirroul will hold a church service at 9:30 am on Christmas Eve. Then, on Christmas Day, both churches have a 9 am service.

Corrimal Community Church’s annual Carols in the Street is on the 10th of December from 4:30-7:30 pm. With an ice cream van, coffee van and carols starting at 5 pm, there is something for the kids and adults alike. Local artists who will be there include The Elastic Band, Magnificent Manda, and Super Kenny and more, with a special guest (Santa) visiting too.

Christmas Carols – Kiama

Carols in Kiama – Songs of Joy will be held on the 13th of December from 6:30-8 pm at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church (Manning Street, Kiama). Singing at the event will be the Alchemy Chorus South Coast, Sing Australia Kiama, SingSpace Vocal Ensemble, Food of Love, Katandra Women’s A Capella Choir, SS Peter and Paul School Choir, SS Peter and the Paul Parish Choir. Donations will be collected for the Kiama-based charity Homestead of Hope.

Come sing all your favourite Christmas Carols with your family on Wednesday 20th December. After a few years absence, the Christmas Spirit is coming back to Hindmarsh Park, Wednesday 20 December, 6pm-8pm. There will be food vans, games and even an appearance by our big man in red!

Carols on the Green is back for 2023, Tuesday 12 December, 5.30pm. With amazing artists, face painting and Matilda’s Farmyard Nursery all booked in – mark it on your calendar for a fantastic festive night at the Golfie!

Christmas Carols – Yallah

Lighthouse Church is running a Christmas Carol event at Yallah Woolshed (601 Princes Hwy, Yallah) on the 17th of December from 4:30 to 5:30 pm. There are a host of activities that your family will enjoy, like cookie decorating, crafts, face painting, a family photo booth, and family meals from Fine Spun Catering. Family-friendly carols run from 5:30-6:30 pm.

From 7:15-8 pm, there will be a ‘chill-vibes only’ session, which is relaxed carols specifically for those who need a sensory-friendly environment, young adults, older generations or people who prefer a relaxed style of carols. Young families are highly encouraged to attend the 5:30 session, which is designed for families with young kids.

Churchill Carols are on at Jamberoo Anglican Church (45 Churchill Street, Jamberoo) on Sunday, the 24th of December. There is a free sausage sizzle at 5 pm; carols will be held from 6 pm, then supper and all-age games from 7 pm. This special event will be held on the lawn, so bring your picnic rug and drinks to enjoy an evening of new and old Christmas Carols. Learn how they bring us joy and hope. On Christmas Day, there will also be a church service inside the church at 9 am.
