Festival of Flight
The Festival of Flight honours the memory of Lawrence Hargrave who was the first person in the world to achieve vertical lift-off.
His success was shared with the Wright Brothers, who are widely credited with being the first to fly. Our very own Father of Flight took off from Stanwell Park beach on November 12, 1894.
The Festival, to be held on November 12, will feature skydivers, hanggliders, Biplane acrobatics, fly pasts of historic aircraft, kite flying as well as a market stalls, entertainment, delicious food and children’s activities.
