The Illawarra Flame Festival

The Illawarra Science hub presents the second Illawarra Flame Festival at Wisemans Park in Gwynneville on Sunday 19th August from 10 am – 2 pm finishing with a Poetry Slam event at the Wollongong Workshop Theatre.

The festival includes guided walks through the local vegetation, self guided walks at the perimeter of the park where people can learn the names of the local gumtrees and use them as an inspiration for poetry, displays by the local RFS, presentations by the physics department at UOW, a science show from the Science Space, fire safe talks, propagation workshops, 3D workshops, a presentation about the use of fire by first nation people and lots more including live music and a Garden of Earthy Delights especially for the children.

The Festival is Free and is a celebration of science and the arts with the inspiration of Flame.
