The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Based on Eric Carle’s books. The Very Hungry Caterpillar is one of the most-read and famous children’s books of all time.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar is one of the most popular children’s books of all time. Children young and old have followed the adventures of a very tiny and very hungry caterpillar as he ate his way through an amazing variety of foods on his journey of friendship and magical transformation into a beautiful butterfly.

Now, this wonderful Australian production brings The Very Hungry Caterpillar to life on stage, combining with other classic Eric Carle tales – The Artist Who Painted A Blue Horse, Mr. Seahorse and The Very Lonely Firefly – to excite, educate and entertain readers and first-time theatre-goers. With 75 magical puppets created by New York’s Puppet Kitchen, this larger-than-life production will delight and excite the whole family.

Recommended for ages 2+

“For first-time theatregoers, this is a triumph of faithful storytelling and pattern recognition. For seasoned viewers it’s a production that’s beautiful to watch – no matter how old you are, or how long ago it was since you read a picture book” –  Time Out

“This is a superbly realised vision of what might have been a very difficult adaptation and a work that honours its much-loved source text/s completely. Creator Jonathan Worsley and director Naomi Edwards have done a great job and it will no doubt find a huge audience across the world for many years to come. And deservedly so.” –  Daily Telegraph
