    • Event will be held hybrid- On campus and on zoom

What does it mean to write about Buddhism in the contemporary world?

In this NTI Conversation, Raymond Lam, senior writer at Buddhistdoor Global, draws on his experience in religion journalism to explore the craft and responsibility of writing on Buddhism today—across culture, politics, and public life.

This session will consider what it takes to become a Buddhist writer: how to navigate complexity, represent diverse voices, and engage critically with tradition in a modern media landscape.

About the Presenter: Raymond Lam is senior writer at Buddhistdoor Global. Born in Hong Kong, he grew up in Australia and earned an MA in Buddhist Studies at SOAS University of London. Apart from interviewing and covering Buddhist figures and scholars, his religion journalism covers important trends in the Buddhist world and Buddhist Studies, religion’s influence on society, politics, and diplomacy, and the interplay between religion, the arts, and culture.

Raymond is on the executive committee of the International Network of Engaged Buddhists (INEB) and the professional committee of the Foreign Correspondents’ Club Hong Kong. He is also a committee member of the Australian Association of Hong Kong, and a trustee of the Heythrop Association.

NTI conversations are free to attend; however, registration is essential.
