Merrigong Theatre Company is a not-for-profit company that operates Wollongong’s premier performing arts venue, Illawarra Performing Arts Centre (IPAC) and the city’s key civic and community venue, Wollongong Town Hall.

Merrigong is also a vibrant theatre company in its own right – producing, presenting and touring exciting contemporary theatre and supporting the development of a wide range of theatre makers.Merrigong presents a diverse annual season of theatre, dance and children’s programming, including work sourced from Australia’s finest performing arts companies, self-produced work, acclaimed international productions, and innovative contemporary work from new companies.

Outside its annual artistic program, Merrigong programs and partners on a range of commercial events across its venues and in the wider Wollongong Arts Precinct, including festivals, pop/rock concerts, cabaret and stand-up comedy.With multiple venues for hire, we also facilitate and host numerous commercial and community performing arts events.

Merrigong Theatre Company is thrilled to announce their annual program, MERRIGONGX, showcasing the best of local talent + the theatre company's bold new works. This year the program will feature a line-up of four exciting productions on stage, as well as 17 works in development ranging across dance, theatre, music and more. Merrigong Theatre Company is home to 3 venues right in the centre of the Wollongong CBD that are each available for hire for big and small work/corporate events, trade shows, dinners.... the list goes on! Venues are the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre, Wollongong Town Hall (WTH) and the smaller and more intimate space, The Music Lounge.

Capacity across each venue is as follows: WTH - Main Auditorium (Up to 944 capacity); IPAC IMB Theatre (Up to 515 seated); IPAC - Bruce Gordon Theatre (234 seated); WTH - The Music Lounge (Up to 152 capacity); IPAC - Bob Peet Studio (Up to 80 capacity).
