WEA Illawarra are a local community college offering short personal interest courses as well as business qualifications. If you are looking for a new hobby or want to update your skills for the workplace then we are the college for you. Keep on reading to see what we can offer you!
Accredited Training
WEA Illawarra is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 90297) accredited by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) to provide nationally recognised training. This means that once you’ve successfully completed your training or qualification, the skills you are competent in will be recognised across Australia.
We currently have funding under Smart and Skilled for eligible participants to be able to subsidise courses in:
- Foundation Skills – reading, writing, numeracy and computer skills
- Entitlement Certificate II & III
- Targeted Priorities Certificate IV & Diploma

Leisure Skills Training
Leisure Skills is all about learning a new hobby or skill and engaging with like-minded people. We are the fun side of WEA Illawarra and can offer you a variety of courses from the following categories:

- Health and Wellbeing

Seniors Computing
Now has never been a more important time for Seniors’ to engage with technology and we can help and support Seniors through these challenges. Many of our Seniors’ courses are free or carry a nominal charge.
Some courses are held face to face whilst others are held online. Don’t feel overwhelmed by learning online – we are here to help you! Click on this link to discover more HERE
If you are aged 50 and over and are not connected to the internet or have a digital device to work with, we currently have iPads that we can loan out to you for a 3 month period. Best of all they are FREE! Telephone support is provided to you along the way so why not give us a call on 4226 1622 and sign up for this terrific offer!
Creative Kids
The NSW Government is helping kids get creative with the new Creative Kids program. Parents, guardians and carers of every school student in NSW can receive $100 voucher each year for registration, participation and tuition costs for creative and cultural activities. You only have 6 months left to use these vouchers so don’t miss out on our next round of courses! Ages range from 7 years to 18 years depending on the course and courses include:
- Creative Writing
- Sewing
- Photography
- Pottery
- Art
COVID-19 Safe
WEA Illawarra are committed to keeping our college a safe learning environment for our staff and students. As such we have implemented:
- Smaller class sizes to cope with social distancing
- Hand sanitising units have been placed throughout the college
- You may be asked to have a temperature check when entering the building
- Our college is cleaned to industry standard COVID-19 standards
