Christmas Carols | Wollongong

It’s time to exercise our vocal chords and enjoy some family time with the annual Christmas Carols in the lead up to Christmas.

As new events come to light they will be added to the list so check back regularly.

Note: Some events may be weather reliant.

Carols in Corrimal

When: Friday, 2 December 2016
Where: Robert Ziems Park, Hall St, Wollongong
Time: 6.00pm (for a 6.30pm start) – 9.00pm
Entry: Coin donation to the Surf Life Saving Club

There is nothing quite like a Community Christmas Carols event to start the fun and celebrations before Santa arrives.

With that in mind, the Corrimal Community of Schools are organising a Corrimal Community Carols event and everybody is invited.

Come see talented, young students from Bellambi Public School, Corrimal Public School, Corrimal East Public School, Tarrawanna Public School, Towradgi Public School and Corrimal High School perform some of their favourite Christmas carols.

Grab some glowsticks and sing along to the carols with the Community of Schools Christmas App (song list and lyrics) before a very special Christmas guest arrives to see everyone.

Food will also be available on the night from our wonderful partners, the Corrimal Cougars Rugby League Football Club and the Corrimal Chamber of Commerce. Menu items include pulled beef rolls, steak sandwiches, sausage sandwiches, pies, sausage rolls, hot dogs, soft drink, lollies, ice creams and popcorn.

Wollongong Christmas Carols

When: Saturday, 3 December 2016
Where: JJ Kelly Park Wollongong
Time: 6.00pm – 9.30pm

Hosted by Geoff Phillips from WIN Television with special guest performances from Prinnie Stevens and Leigh McRae including Wollongong talent Trent Bowater, Rohan Herring, Michael Zelvis and Jesse Cleal.

The Disability Trust Makers and Star Dancers plus many more performers will also hit the stage and the night will finish with fireworks.

Santa will arrive by fire truck thanks to Wollongong Fire Station and every child will also receive a free gift from Santa.

Dapto Community Carols

When: Saturday, 3 December 2016
Where: Dapto Showground, 89 Princes Hwy, Dapto
Time: 5.00pm – 9.30pm

The annual Dapto Community Carols is hosted by the Combined Churches of Dapto.

Shellharbour City Council Carols

When: Friday, 9 December 2016
Where: Reddall Reserve, Lake Illawarra
Time: 5.30pm – 8.30pm

Shellharbour City Council Carols by Candlelight is a free family event celebrating the spirit of Christmas includes a kids’ concert, carols and a firework display.

5.30pm – 6.15pm – Kids concert
6.30pm – 8.30pm – Carols
8.30pm – Fireworks

Figtree Community Carols

When: Saturday, 10 December 2016
Where: Figtree High School
Time: 4.30pm – 9.30pm
Entry: Free

Once again, Figtree Anglican Church invites you to join them for their annual Figtree Community Carols; a fabulous evening of entertainment for all the family.

This year’s special guests are the Jelly Wobbles. They are a children’s music group of 4 guys with big personalities!

Local talent will lead the singing with all your favourite carols and  the evening concluding once again with a spectacular fireworks display.

There will be free face painting and activities for the little ones, low cost rides, BBQ as well as a range of food vendors.

Carols by the Beach – Thirroul

When: Sunday, 11 December 2016
Where: Thirroul Beach Reserve
Time: 4.00pm – 8.45pm
Entry: Free

Each year, the community of the northern suburbs of the Illawarra comes together for Carols by the Beach.

Held at Thirroul Beach Park, Carols by the Beach is the opportunity for families and friends to gather, at one of the most wonderful times of the year, sing carols and have fun together .

Set next to Thirroul Beach, Carols by the Beach is 100% family friendly, with activities for the kids, and plenty of space for the perfect summer evening picnic.

This year’s event begins at 4pm on Sunday 11th of December and ends with a fireworks display at 8.45pm.

A bbq at 6.00pm kicks off the fun with family activities and carols at 7.30pm. BYO chairs, blankets. Candles/glowsticks available for purchase on the night.

Carols in the Park – Jamberoo

When: Tuesday, 13 December 2016
Where: Reid Park
Time: 7.00pm

Hosted by Inter-Church Committee of Jamberoo, Carols in the Park at Jamberoowill take place at Reid Park on Tuesday, 13 December  from 7pm.

Don’t forget to bring a blanket or a chair and enjoy an evening of carols supported by the Salvation Army Band.

The wet weather alternative venue is Jamberoo Public School, located on Churchill Street.

Carols on the Green

Where: Kiama Golf Club
Time: 6.00pm – 8.00pm

Hosted by Kiama Golf Club, bring along the picnic rug and enjoy a great family night. Food and beverages available.

Kiama Community Carols

When: Wednesday, 14 December 2016
Where: Hindmarsh Park, Kiama
Time: 7.00pm – 9.00pm

In Kiama, the annual ‘Community Carols’, hosted by the Combined Churches of Kiama will again happen on December 14th, 2016 in Hindmarsh Park, Terralong St.

Carols by the Harbour is happening again this year.!

Head to  Little Park, Shellharbour Village on Saturday the 17th December for a great evening full of fun and entertainment.

Sing-a-long with Santa and his helpers to all your favourite Christmas tunes.

Featuring multi-award winning recording artist Christine Anu and the Gateway City Church choir.

Bring a cushion or a picnic blanket and some Christmas cheer to join the fun.

Food stalls will be on site and many City Centre stores and eateries will be open until 9pm.

Hosted by i98FM’s Fairlie and Crammy. Enjoy kids entertainment with Santa and a spectacular fireworks display.


Carols by the Sea – Austinmer

Carols on the Lawn

When: Sunday, 18 December 2016
Where:  St Michael’s Cathedral Wollongong (Church and Market St)
Time: 6.00pm – 7.30pm

Carols on the Lawn at St Michael’s church grounds is on December 18th at the special joint time of 6pm (their regular 5pm or 7pm services will be combined).

They’ll have a modern band rocking out classic carols. There will also be a BBQ and a jumping castle from 5.30pm.

Jamberoo Community Carols

Where: Jamberoo Anglican Church

This year the Jamberoo Anglican Church will begin the tradition of meeting for Community Christmas Carols on the Saturday night before Christmas,  24th December at 5pm.

It’s a great night for both members and guests to join together to sing some modern and traditional carols, to hear the kids perform some songs, and to enjoy a meal afterwards.
