2018 Allan Sefton Memorial Lecture

The Allan Sefton Memorial Lecture was established in 1993 in recognition the late Allan Sefton. Allan was well known to residents of the Illawarra for his work as a naturalist and conservator of the local environment and for his contributions to environmental science in the Illawarra region. The free lecture is a public occasion where a distinguished Australian scientist speaks on a topic of wide environmental interest.

The guest speaker for this year’s lecture is Kate Smolski, CEO of Nature Conservation Council of NSW, who will deliver the talk “Paradise Lost: The Erosion of NSW Environmental Laws, NSW 2011-2018”.

This year’s event also coincides with National Science Week (11-19 August).
