This October, don’t be surprised when you hear the dynamic drumming drifting through the Illawarra. It’s the third annual Illawarra Drum Expo Saturday 19th October at Haworth Music Shellharbour! Following on from the huge success of the last two year’s events’, they are gearing up for an even bigger year this time around with artist workshops, Q&A and giveaways! As always, this is a FREE event – Haworth’s way of giving back to the community they cherish, and ensuring that all, from those with some drumming interest to those with rudiments drilling through their veins, have an invaluable event to attend.
Free clinics and artist demos will be performed by special guests who have been pulled from the local Haworth Music School, as well as some of the most impressive talents Australia has to offer. Haworth Music has announced Pete Drummond from the band Dragon, will be wowing with his talents! Drummond was enlisted in the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2008 and has worked not only as a drummer but a composer and producer. On the day guests will also be privy to chronology sensation Kye Smith – live, stepping out of his YouTube stage for a more intimate performance. Smith is acclaimed for his drum medley’s, covers and chronologies ranging from the Beatles to AC/DC, with millions of YouTube viewers. Additionally, percussion master RedDog (Adrian Herbert) will be displaying his skillset. Jacob Jausovec, Sales Supervisor from Haworth Music recalls RedDog last year, “educating us about why percussionists are so important, with an epic duo with his drum partner. That was a massive highlight for me which is what I’m really looking forward to this year. As a drum teacher, I love witnessing people become inspired to branch out into other styles and improve their own characteristics and the local artists that we have booked are sure to throw some unique styles out there on the day.” From Haworth Music School, pipe band specialist Mark Lambert is their own industry professionals. He’s worked with students at all skill levels and truly understands the desire to define yourself as a drummer. More explosive experts are booked in to stop by for this year’s Drum Expo, ensuring there will be drumming displays for all interests!
