DateJune 26, 2021 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Steel City Strings biennial youth program returns in 2021 showcasing some of the region's most talented young musicians with Serenade for Strings by Bridge and Bartok's Romanian Dances.
Featuring violinist Hana Lee winner of the Concerto Competition of the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music playing a movement of the Mozart Violin Concerto in A Major and Tomas Phillips with a movement from the much loved Mozart Clarinet Concerto. Vocalist Daisy Pring brings her contemporary style to the program with arrangements by composer John Spence from the Wollongong Con and violinist Elliott Winn plays the 3rd movement of the Vivaldi Double Violin Concerto with Artistic Director Kyle Little.
This year the orchestra held a Composition Competition and the winner was "Recovery" by 17 year old Western Sydney composer Adriel Sukumar. This lyrical work was inspired by recent natural disasters and the pandemic still raging across the world.
