Sydney Film Festival award winning documentary Floodland captures the 2022 Lismore floods through the eyes of the residents who lived through them.

It moves beyond the news cycle to highlight the First Nations healing practices and community-led solutions that are so vital for Australia’s future.

Join us on Thursday 14 May for a special event screening and panel discussion at Gala Twin cinema with local emergency services and community organisations who will discuss disaster response and community resilience in the Illawarra region.

This is a story about the strength found in recovery, the ability for communities to pull together in the face of disaster, and the urgent conversations being prompted by the reality of our changing climate. The events of the Lismore floods are an opportunity for our regional community to learn about disaster resilience in the face of droughts and bushfires; an invitation to pull together and bounce back in the face of hardship.
