New Year’s Eve Fireworks

Say a fond farewell to 2018 and bring in 2019 with a ‘BANG’ with  New Year’s Eve fireworks in Wollongong, Kiama, Nowra and Berry.

Belmore Basin, Wollongong

Where: Belmore Basin (Harbour Rd), Wollongong
Fireworks: 9.00pm

On Monday 31 December 2018, celebrate New Year’s Eve at Belmore Basin with a family-friendly, alcohol-free, pet-free event.

This year is a circus-inspired New Year’s Eve celebration for 2018.

There will be live music, circus performers, face painting, amusement rides, and food and novelty stalls to provide a lively atmosphere in the lead-up to our fireworks spectacular at 9pm.

Free Gong Shuttle

The free Gong Shuttle Bus will be extended for the event from 4pm to 11pm.

It will run every 10 minutes for the duration of the event.

Wollongong Council recommend catching the train to Fairy Meadow, North Wollongong or Wollongong stations, and then jumping on the free Gong Shuttle Bus.

Road Closures

Between 4pm – 10.15pm on New Year’s Eve the following roads will be closed:
  • Cliff Road between Georges Place and Marine Drive;
  • Harbour Street between Cliff Road and Smith Street, including Old Court House Lane;
  • Harbour access ramp off Endeavour Drive; and
  • Between 8.30pm – 9.30pm lower Endeavour Drive will also be closed.
Businesses within the road closure zone will be open as normal.

Kiama

Where: Black Beach (Kiama Harbour) NSW
Time: 4.00pm – 10.00pm

Celebrate the New Year at the 96.5 Wave FM Kiama Sky Show, proudly presented by Destination Kiama and Kiama Municipal Council.

  • 4pm – Eat Street and Carnival Rides open
  • 4pm – 5.15pm – Concert in Hindmarsh Park (local performers)
  • 5.30pm – 9pm – Concert in Hindmarsh Park featuring Melody Moko plus headline act – Catherine Britt & The Cold Cold Hearts
  • 6.30pm – Phat Brass perform at Black Beach
  • 9.00pm – Fireworks & Laser Sky Show at Kiama Harbour
  • 9.30pm – Laser Sky Show (2) at Kiama Harbour

Sydney Trains will be running extra Kiama services. Attendees to the event are encouraged to park at Minnamurra and Gerringong stations to park and ride to and from the event. (www.sydneytrains.info).

Nowra City Turf Club

Where: Archer Racecourse, 96 Albatross Rd
Time: 12.00pm – 10.00pm

Celebrating New Year’s Eve at Shoalhaven City Turf Club is fast becoming an annual ritual for many families in the area.

Come along and relax, socialise, dance and enjoy the fantastic fireworks display.

The canteen and bar will both be open and limited seating will be available.

Bring along your own picnic catering and rug and enjoy the live band!

Low line chairs are permitted however umbrellas, gazebos or any other items that cannot be secured properly will not be permitted.

Just a reminder that Shoalhaven City Turf Club is a fully licensed venue, so no beverages of any kind (including water) can be bought on-site.

Rotary Club of Berry Family Fun Night

Where: Berry Showground, 35 Alexandra St, Berry
Time: from 5.00pm
Fireworks: 9.00pm

The Fireworks Spectacular and Family Fun Night at the Berry Showground is held once again on New Year’s Eve and is bigger and better than ever.

The fun commences at 5pm with numerous free games for the children to play in the middle of the showground with good old-fashioned games such as the sack races and down the cans.

Entertainment this year include various stage acts including The Rock Addicts and children’s favourite – Pirate Pete – playing his own brand of music and storytelling. Plus the ever-popular ShowMow lawn mower racing to wow the crowds.

There is also market day variety stalls, food vendors and an exciting range of carnival-style rides providing options for the whole family to have a great time.

Families are always encouraged to bring a rug and make a real picnic night of it and enjoy the beautiful surrounds of the Berry Showground.

This is an alcohol-free event with proceeds of the night going towards the Rotary Club of Berry’s fundraising for a community nature play parkland in Berry, plus other community activities.

ENTRY:  $5.00 per person. Children under 15 yrs FREE
