Spiegeltent Wollongong 2018

Following a wildly successful inaugural season in 2017, the Aurora Spiegeltent will return to the Wollongong Arts Precinct for a five-star program of music, cabaret, circus, comedy, theatre and family fun from Thursday 12th April to Sunday 6th May, 2018.

Headlining the 2018 Spiegeltent Wollongong season will be LIMBO. Part circus, part cabaret, LIMBO will whisk audiences into a sinister netherworld of gut-churning contortion, breath-taking acrobatics and jaw-dropping stunts. This intoxicating show has been a huge hit across the globe from London to Munich, Auckland to Adelaide, Bogota to Brussels. The show is so hot that Madonna saw it twice!

Music and cabaret acts gracing the glamorous venue will include the Aria Award-winning All Our Exes Live in Texas, Dan Sultan, The Black Sorrows, Trevor Ashley in Trash & Trevor, award-winning singer-songwriter Kate Miller-Heidke, and Djuki Mala with their unique fusion of traditional Yolngu, pop-culture, dance and storytelling.

Bringing the laughs to the Spiegeltent stage will be an incredible line up of world-class comedians with brand new shows including Judith Lucy and Denise Scott, Tom Gleeson, Peter Helliar, Dave Hughes and Gretel Killeen.

With something for the whole family, Spiegeltent will also present an incredible line up of family friendly shows including the high-energy circus extravaganza, Barrel of Monkeys.

During the Spiegeltent season, the whole Arts Precinct will be activated with live, local entertainment between shows where guests can make the most of the experience and enjoy, as well as exclusive ‘Homegrown’ sessions featuring a line up of great local talent in specially curated shows in the Spiegeltent.

Dutch for ‘mirror tent’, the Spiegeltent originated in Belgium in the late 19th century as a travelling entertainment venue. The stunning Aurora Spiegeltent is an extravagant big top tent decorated with mirrors, stained glass, velvet and brocade with a beautifully glamorous old-world feel. In 2017, the season attracted over 15,000 patrons to the Wollongong Arts Precinct, and Merrigong Theatre Company expect to see this grow in 2018.
