Symphonic Sounds

In a program chosen for its romanticism and drama, Steel City Strings joins forces with violinist Anna Da Silva Chen playing Beethoven’s mighty violin concerto.

The string orchestra augmented with brass, woodwind and percussion, will be performing Mozart’s Jupiter Symphony regarded by some as among the greatest symphonies ever written.

Steel City Strings are the recent winners of an APRA Art Music Award for Excellence in a Regional Area and Commitment to Australian Music.

It is wonderful to have such a high-quality ensemble with a focus on commissioning and performing Australian works in a regional area, in this case the Illawarra region and the NSW Southern Highlands.  A real gem in the Australian musical landscape.” – APRA Art Music Award Judges

Sydney-born violinist Anna da Silva Chen is recognised as one of Australia’s finest emerging violinists, appearing as a soloist with many of Australia’s major orchestras.

Featured as their Artist-in-Residence for two years, Anna performs extensively with the Australia Piano Quartet and has won many awards.

Join us for a spectacular night of Beethoven, Mozart and other symphonic favourites in this not to be missed event.
