Wollongong Central Stair Climb Challenge

Join the first ever Wollongong Central Stair Climb Challenge and help make a difference by supporting women and kids who experience homelessness as a result of domestic and family violence in the Illawarra.

Funds raised will be donated to SAHSSI (Supported Accommodation & Homelessness Services Shoalhaven & Illawarra), who provide emergency accommodation services and assistance to women and their children who are effected by family and domestic abuse.

Anyone and everyone is invited to come along, have fun, get fit and challenge yourself.

The Categories
  • For Real’s: The challenge is to do 5 laps of the Wollongong Central tower stairs in the fastest time.
  • For Fun’s: The challenge is to get fit, raise money and give it your best shot.

By registering for this event you commit to fundraising on behalf of SAHSSI with the hope of raising upwards of $200.00 for this event.

The Cause

Every year, SAHSSI provide vital help to thousands of women in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven when they need it most. But for every woman and child who can be helped, another 3 cases get turned away due to lack of emergency housing options.

By donating to our Stair Climb Challenge participants you aren’t just supporting a mate – you are helping to break the cycle of homelessness for women and children in the Illawarra who are experiencing very difficult times.

Fundraising When registering for the Stair Climb Challenge every climber receives a fundraising page with a $200 personal goal.

Everyone who donates to your page is helping SAHSSI and all donations over $2 are tax deductible.

Fundraising Tips

Activate your workplace

  • Does your workplace have morning teas for charity, trivia nights, raffles or dress down days?
  • Ask if fundraising from staff activities can go to your tally. Your fundraising will be boosted and your company will look great!

Sponsor a step

  • Just 10cents for every lap you do you will raise $16.40 to help get you over your fundraising target. Imagine if you raised $1 for every step!  It helps supporters to have tangible goals associated with their donation – so break it down step by step.

Social media offers fundraising at your fingertips.

  • Share your page on social media, Linked In, the staff intranet or your email signature.
  • Keep updating your page with training pics or short videos and remember to tag and thank those who have donated.

Why do I need to fundraise?

Your registration fee only covers the cost of staging the Wollongong Central Stair Climb Challenge event. This means that we really do rely on amazing individuals like you to get involved and help us raise much-needed funds to help thousands of women and their children in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven who need emergency housing as a result of family and domestic violence.

The funds you raise go directly to supporting and expanding the service of SAHSSI so they can continue to assist women in crisis.

This year, each participant has been set a fundraising goal of $200. The great news is $200 is very attainable.

Can I collect cash donations and pay using my credit card?

Absolutely! Simply keep the cash that has been donated to you and make a credit card payment to your Everyday Hero page of the equivalent amount.

Can I get a receipt for a donation?

Yes! Any donation over $2 is tax deductible.

I want to approach businesses for donations – How do I prove that I’m authorised to fundraise for SASSHI?

Where do the funds go?

All of the funds you raise go directly towards supporting SAHSSI in the delivery of vital services to thousands of Illawarra and Shoalhaven women and their children experiencing domestic violence.

SASSHI are looking to expand their housing offer in order to help more local families.

The money raised through the stair climb challenge will help fund a new property.
