    UOW Science Space is the largest hands-on science centre in NSW and among the TOP 10 Fun Places to take the kids ranked by Parents Guide Illawarra!

    Located at the University of Wollongong's Innovation Campus this amazing family has something for all the family. UOW Science Space has been a part of the Illawarra for over 30 years!


    Science Space Wollongong Programs:

    Science Sprouts for 0-5 year olds during School Term - STEAM Playdates for mini scientists!

    Join us Thursday mornings (during school terms) and give your mini scientist aged 0-5 a head start in early years STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Maths). Activities vary each week and may include science experiments, sensory play, artworks, puppets, construction, playdough, story time, parachute fun and much more! Learn more here.

    After School LEGO Program - every Tuesday after school

    From wind racers to super villain lairs, robots to fishing rods, LEGO Club is a must for all aspiring LEGO masters aged 7-12! Join in every Tuesday after school to learn STEM skills, take part in epic engineering design challenges, make new friends and have lots of fun. Parents/carers are welcome to stay and participate or can drop off their child and return at pickup time. Learn more here.

    About UOW Science Space

    You can't miss their funky building, covered in bright shapes as you drive along Squires Way in North Wollongong. If you stop in, you will discover heaps of interactive and quirky exhibits that have been inspiring curiosity in science and technology to over a million students and children since 1989.

    With a beautifully refreshed exhibition space, special themed school holiday features and exciting birthday party options, UOW Science Space is the BEST venue for interactive fun for a family or school excursion.

    Interactive Exhibits: Their exhibit gallery consists of over 100 hands-on exhibits that demonstrate science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in action. Spread across two floors, they have exhibits on dinosaurs, fossils, motors and electricity, to challenge even the most logical minds.

    Science Theatre: The Science Theatre offers an array of FUN and educational science shows for ages 6+. From exploding balloons to liquid nitrogen these shows explore the wonders of science.

    Planetarium: Watch as day turns into night as you explore stars and constellations in NSW's largest and most advanced Immersive Theatre. Experience full-dome shows and learn about topics such as the universe, dinosaurs, the evolution of life and the night sky.

    Science Shop: The Science Shop is one of the most extensive science shops in Australia and carries a wide range of science products. From robotics kits to slime, the shop has products for teaching, exploring, and learning or for just having fun whatever your budget.

    Holiday Activities: Every school holiday, they offer special themed activities as well as full day Science Camps and drop-in workshops with our dedicated STEM Zone. With opening every day during NSW school holidays from 10am - 4pm their extensive program of shows and activities will keep the whole family entertained!
