    The Community College by WEA Co is a local community college offering short personal interest courses as well as business qualifications.     LEISURE ACTIVITIES

    ACCREDITED TRAINING

    The Community College by WEA Co is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO ID: 90297) accredited by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) to provide nationally recognised training. This means that once you’ve successfully completed your training or qualification, the skills you are competent in will be recognised across Australia.

    SHORT COURSES

    These courses are fully funded for those who meet the eligibility requirements. This training is funded by the NSW Government. On successful completion of an assessment a Statement of Attainment will be issued.

    Computer Foundations:

    Microsoft Word – Level 1

    Students will learn how to navigate the computer and will explore the fundamental aspects of Microsoft Word, from the basics of navigation and document creation to using copy and paste, formatting and much more!

    Excel - Level 1

    This course is geared towards Excel newcomers, you’ll learn the basics but also discover handy shortcuts, learn to create, calculate, format, and print spreadsheets.

    Computer Essentials – Level 2

    Students will learn how to navigate the computer, enhance their mouse & keyboard skills, the basics of using Microsoft 365, and will explore features and functions of Microsoft, Excel and PowerPoint. Students will also learn important aspects of using digital communication in the workplace.


    Intermediate Computers:

    Microsoft Word – Level 3

    These courses are designed for regular users of these Microsoft applications. Learners must be able to do basic formatting including fonts, sizing, numbers and simple formulas using cells.

    Excel - Level 3

    Learners will build techniques to create professional spreadsheets, including time saving functions, shortcuts, formatting, and powerful charting.

    PowerPoint - Level 3

    Master PowerPoint skills in this accredited course. Learn to create dynamic electronic presentation with professional design, animations, and interactivity.


    XERO

    Learn XERO accounting software – the course will make you confident in using XERO software, whether it is for your personal skills, for your business or for your work.

    *Fundamental accounting skills are required for this course.

    **A Certificate of Completion is available upon request.


    Customer Service Skill Set

    Our Customer Service training program is not just about ringing up sales: it’s about gaining skills that will serve you for life, no matter where your career path leads.

    Units covered:

    • SIRXCEGOO1 - Engage the customer.
    • SIRXSLS001 - Sell to the retail customer.
    • SIRXCEG002 - Assist with customer difficulties.
    • SIRXIND003 - Organise personal work requirements.
    • SIRXCOM002 - Work effectively in a team.
    • SIRXIND001 - Work effectively in a service environment.

    ACCREDITED QUALIFICATIONS

    We currently have funding under NSW Government Adult and Community Education (ACE) and Smart and Skilled programs for participants who meet eligibility requirements to be able to subsidise courses in:

    Foundation Skills – reading, writing, numeracy and computer skills.  You can pick what you want to learn – one thing at a time, or a few things together.  If you keep learning, you can achieve a whole certificate!

    • BSB20120 Certificate II in Workplace Skills
    • BSB30120 Certificate III in Business
    • BSB30220 Certificate III in Entrepreneurship and New Business*
    • BSB40120 Certificate IV in Business
    • BSB40520 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management
    • BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership and Management
    • SIR20216 Certificate II in Retail Services
    • SIR30216 Certificate III in Retail
    • FNS30322 Certificate III in Accounts Administration
    • FNS40222 Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping

    How are qualifications delivered?

    Qualifications at the Community College can be completed face-to-face, independently with trainer support, or through study at home. This delivery method, known as Your Choice, allows students to work at their own pace alongside others pursuing similar qualifications. Qualified Trainers are present to provide assistance with learning resources and assessments. Students will have access to the Community College's facilities and technology to complete their individual study schedules. Some traditional face-to-face classes are also available, and workplace trainees have the option to attend classes or have a trainer visit their workplace

    CERTIFICATE III in RETAIL (SIR30216) - Follow your passion for retail!

    This course trains you to engage effectively with customers, manage store operations, and achieve organisational expectations.  You will gain extensive knowledge of products and services, develop industry skills, and learn to work independently.  These skills prepare you to supervise a team and oversee retail store operations.
