VOICES: An interactive sound and light experience

What if a sculpture could sing back? VOICES is a free, interactive art experience in the heart of Wollongong CBD.

At first glance, VOICES appears as a striking three‑metre‑tall sculpture. Look closer and you’ll discover 50 translucent tubes lining its walls — brought to life through touch with light and sound.

As you explore, individual voices emerge, building into a collective experience. Designed to be inclusive, hands-on and engaging for all ages, VOICES invites families, kids and curious visitors to listen, play and connect.

By day VOICES is playful and interactive, but after dark it truly comes alive. When the sun sets the energy ramps up with after-dark activations in Crown Street Mall, from silent discos to roving performances and live choir moments, bringing even more vibrancy to Wollongong CBD at night.

VOICES runs from Friday 19 - Sunday 21 June, 10am - 10pm each day (with after-dark activations each night).

What to expect

VOICES is interactive and responds to your touch. There are 50 tubes that light up and make sound when you spin them. Each movement brings in a new voice, and as more tubes are activated, the sound and light grow stronger, building into a full choir you can hear and experience together.

VOICES invites people to come together, explore and connect. Designed as a multi-sensory, inclusive experience, it’s welcoming for all ages and abilities, with step-free access and intuitive design throughout.
