This makes it large enough to explore for several hours while still being easy to navigate on foot. Most visitors spend around 1–2 hours exploring the garden. What to see at the Wollongong Botanic Garden

The garden includes a variety of themed areas and walking paths that change beautifully with the seasons. Highlights include:

Wollongong Botanic Garden Plant Collections

Rainforest Walk

One of the most tranquil parts of the garden, the Rainforest Walk features lush greenery, winding paths and towering trees.

Kawasaki Bridge & Japanese Tea House

The Kawasaki Bridge and Japanese Tea House are a short distance from the Duck Pond. (Please note: access to the Kawasaki Bridge is currently closed while repairs are undertaken).

Duck Pond

The Duck Pond near the Murphys Avenue entrance, features a beautiful rotunda in the centre of the pond. Keep an eye out for the native ducks and even the eels that live in the pond. If feeding the ducks, please avoid bread and offer healthier options like peas or grapes in very small amounts.

Sculptures in the Garden

During your visit, check out the many award-winning sculptures on permanent exhibition.

Open Lawns & Picnic Areas

There are plenty of large grassy areas + free BBQs, that make the garden ideal for picnics, relaxing or simply enjoying the sunshine. We recommend sitting as far up the top of the hill if you can – the view is lovely while taking in a picnic. In fact, you are spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing a picnic spot – as long as you stay off the garden beds, there are plenty of stunning, private spots.
