Screen Illawarra, thanks to generous funding from the Gerringong Pics and Flicks Association, is offering a film training scholarship for two young residents (18-25 years), from either the Kiama or Shoalhaven Council Local Government Areas.

In collaboration with the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS), the scholarship recipients will get the chance to attend two short courses (one online and one on campus) each. The scholarship (valued at $1000) will provide $960 financial assistance towards the fees for the AFTRS short courses, and $40 for a one year membership to Screen Illawarra.

Scholarship recipients will also be invited to produce a short fictional film, to be screened at an upcoming Screen Illawarra Networking Event and Gerringong Pics and Flicks’ film night.

Reminder: Applicants need to be 18 to 25 years of age when they are enrolling in their chosen AFTRS Short Courses, and live in either the Kiama or Shoalhaven Council Local Government Areas to be eligible to apply for the Screen Illawarra film training scholarship.

Applications are now open (as of 9:00am AEST on Thursday 30th April 2026), and will close at 5:00pm (AEST) on Friday 29th May 2026.
