Science Space has school holidays sorted with live science shows, immersive planetarium experiences, hands-on STEM activities and their exciting new Energy Futures Zone!
Watch things explode in Up in Flames, be amazed by Liquid Nitrogen demonstrations, journey through space in the planetarium and discover interactive exhibits designed to spark curiosity in kids of all ages. For the ultimate science adventure, don't miss their popular Curiosity Days, combining experiments, challenges, planetarium shows and hands-on learning all in one action-packed day.
Science Space is open every day of the school holidays from 10am - 4pm. Curiosity Days hours have been extended to 8:30am-4:30pm.
School Holiday Science Shows: 4 - 20 July
Their live science shows are a must-see for everyone from curious kids to lifelong learners. Our Science Ambassadors deliver interactive shows on a variety of fascinating topics.
- 10:45am - Up in Flames (suitable for all ages)
- 12:15pm - Bubbleology (suitable for younger audiences)
- 2pm - Liquid Nitrogen (suitable for older audiences)
- 3pm - Up in Flames (suitable for all ages)

School Holiday Planetarium Shows: 4 - 20 July
Their state-of-the-art planetarium, powered by DIGISTAR 6, offers an immersive journey through space. Explore distant galaxies, dive into the ocean depths, or travel back in time. With captivating shows for all ages, there's something for everyone.
All shows are 20 minutes in length. Tickets are required for all visitors aged 3 years and over.
- 10:30am - Solar System Expedition (all ages)
- 11:30am - Legend of the Enchanted Reef (all ages)
- 1:00pm - Solar System Expedition (all ages)
- 1:45pm - Legend of the Enchanted Reef (all ages)
- 2:45pm - Ice Worlds (older audiences)

School Holiday Curiosity Days - 8 & 14 July for kids in Yr 1-6!
Join in these school holidays for an action-packed program of non-stop science fun for kids in Yr 1-6! Your child will get a taste of everything UOW Science Space has to offer - think vacation care but with an educational twist. Compete in epic engineering and technology challenges in our STEM Zone, travel through the universe in our planetarium, witness some incredible experiments in our science theatre and explore the pop-up ocean activities in our hands-on exhibitions. Curiosity Days hours have been extended to 8:30am-4:30pm.
School Holiday Curiosity Day: LEGO Film Making - Wednesday 8 July 2026, 8:45am-4pm
- Calling all junior filmmakers who love LEGO! From volcanoes to fire-fighting, icebergs to avalanches join our film crew to learn classic stop motion techniques as you produce some incredible short films!

School Holiday Curiosity Day: Winter Lab - Tuesday 14 July 2026, 8:45am-4pm & Thursday 16 July 2026, 8:45am-4pm
- Join us for an action packed day of icy science fun! Invent a snowy creature, launch a snowball catapult and design the ultimate igloo. Explore fluids and density as we make sparkly snow globes to take home.

The team from Aspire is back with their pop-up kiosk (10 - 2pm) and their new food truck (11 - 2pm) serving up a range of hot food and snacks! Keep your family refuelled and powered up as you explore all the interactive fun at UOW Science Space - perfect for keeping little (and big!) explorers energised for the day!
