The MS Gong Ride is back on Sunday 5 November 2023! Since 1981, this iconic ride has inspired an incredible community of Wollongong and Sydney locals, who join the ride to fight against multiple sclerosis.

What is the MS Gong Ride?

It is Australia’s most respected community bike ride. For over 40 years, tens of thousands of cyclists have hit the pavement in this legendary ride, in support of people living with multiple sclerosis. Click here for how to register.

This year our riders will experience the ride of a lifetime pedalling along a stunning natural backdrop as they make their way through the Royal National Park. You’ll enjoy the incredible ocean views from Stanwell Tops, riding over the breathtaking Sea Cliff Bridge, before crossing the finish line in Wollongong amongst a backdrop of surf, sun, and sand.

How long is the MS Gong Ride? What is the route?

As the name suggests, this ride is from Sydney and goes through to Wollongong. It starts in Tempe, a suburb in the Inner West of Sydney located 9km south of Sydney central and ends at Lang Park, Wollongong.

There are two distances to suit riders of different levels. The full 82km route is from Tempe Recreation Reserve and the shorter 54km route is from Preston Park in Engadine.

It can take anywhere from 2.5 – 8 hours. There are volunteers along the route to help you.

What is the cost to cycle in the MS Gong Ride?

Since its inception, the MS Gong Ride has raised over $40 million dollars to help those living with multiple sclerosis meet their goals and live well.

Your entry fee to the MS Gong Ride covers the administration and safe running of this epic event. The cost to join the ride is $45-$60 per junior (12 plus) and from $102-$120 per adult. It is not tax deductible. Click here to sign up now!

The fund raising is not compulsory but a minimum of $350 is required for the MS Gong Ride. The funds you raise provide vital support and services to people living with multiple sclerosis. Every dollar you raise will go directly to ensuring the thousands of Australians with multiple sclerosis are able to receive the support and care they need to live well.

It can be as easy as asking your family and friends to support you in this challenge. Your commitment and effort will not only be a rewarding experience for you but will ultimately support people living with multiple sclerosis.

The MS Stats – how joining the MS Gong Ride helps fight MS

33,300 people in Australia have MS and 10 people are diagnosed every week. It attacks young people in the prime of their lives. Multiple sclerosis is the most common neurological disease in young adults and diagnosis is typically between 20 and 40 years of age, although onset of symptoms may be earlier. There is no known cure.

“We love the iconic ride and how well organised it is. The scenery, the volunteers, the challenge. It all makes for a memorable experience and has had us coming back year on year since 2006… and it ain’t looking like we’ll stop any time soon!”
